Drake’s ‘Toosie Slide’ Starts Strong In U.K.

Drake’s “Toosie Slide” is off to a fast start in the U.K., where it’s on track for the highest new entry.

The Canadian R&B singer’s new single is at No. 3 on the Official Chart First Look, which measures sales and streaming activity over the past weekend.

If it holds its position when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published this Friday, Drizzy’s tune will become his 19th Top 10.

Early in the chart week, fellow Canadian The Weeknd tops the leaderboard with Blinding Lights” while SAINt JHN’s “Roses” is at No. 2.

Also enjoying a hot start is comedian Matt Lucas’ “Thank You Baked Potato,” a viral hit which the Little Britain star has released for charity. It’s new No. 5 on the First Look chart.

Money raised from the release goes to Feed NHS, a charity Lucas set up with actors Damien Lewis and Helen McCrory to get hot meals to NHS staff and critical care workers across the country during the coronavirus emergency.

Meanwhile, the late soul great Bill Withers could re-enter the weekly singles chart with three titles as “Lean On Me” start at No. 16, “Ain’t No Sunshine” is at No. 18, and “Lovely Day” is at No. 26.

The singer passed away last Monday due to heart complications, at the age of 81.
